Olympique Lyon have completed the signing of Argentine defender Emanuel Mammana from River Plate. The player signed a 5-year-deal which will keep him at the club until 2021.
Financial details of the deal were not revealed by the clubs but according to Transfermarkt.com the fee is around €7.5m (£6.25m).
Mammana told the club's official website:
"I thank the whole club, the president and coach for the welcome I received and the trust placed in me here. I am very happy to join this great club and I'll give the best of myself. I want to learn French quickly and integrate myself. I have a lot to learn but I want to play very quickly . "
The 20-year-old made 14 appearances for River Plate last season scoring two goals.
Olympique Lyon's Jean-Michel Aulas said:
"It is a double pleasure because we are happy to welcome Emanuel for the first press conference in the new premises. He joined the OL with great ambitions. He is a very young Argentine international player. There are some Argentines who went through Lyon as Rambert, Lisandro Delgado ... We hope that Emanuel will return to the hearts of Lyon as did Licha. He was lucky to have already won almost everything in Argentina with River Plate. "
Mammana made his debut for Argentina national team in 2014 in an international friendly game against Slovenia.
