Rennes and Borussia Dortmund have agreed for the transfer of Ousmane Dembélé, one of the most admired and wanted young talents across Europe. The player signed a contract for 5 seasons, until 2021.
Borussia Dortmund has been watching the French young talent intensively for several years.
The 18-year-old had been watched by a host of European clubs, but he was impressed by Borussia Dortmund. He said:
“Dortmund have looked at me for a long time and have always been in close contact with me and their conduct has really impressed me. I am totally convinced of the Borussia sporting concept. I can hardly wait to play in the Bundesliga in front of more than 80 000 spectators in the Signal Iduna Park and to walk onto the pitch in the Champions League with my new team mates.”
This season, the forward has scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 in 25 games and provided five assists. He was voted the best young player in France this season.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said:
"He is strong one-on-one, can play with both feet, has a lot of skill and is quick and has an eye for goal."
