Borussia Dortmund will sign Spanish international Marc Bartra from La Liga champions FC Barcelona, the player and club agreed a 4-year-deal.
The following was declared on Dortmund's official website:
"Borussia Dortmund are about to sign the Spanish international Marc Bartra. BVB have agreed a four year contract until the 30.June 2020 with the 25 year old central defender. However there are still a few details that need to be ironed out with his club FC Barcelona."
According to Transfermarkt the fee will be in the region of €7.6m (£6m).
In a statement on the club’s website, Barcelona wish the 25-year-old well for the next chapter:
“FC Barcelona wish Marc Bartra all the best in his new phase of his career as a player and he will be invited to say goodbye to the fans personally at the start of next season.”
The player is a product of La Masia, arriving at the age of 12, Marc Bartra eventually made his way to the Barça first team. He made his debut on 14 February 2010 under Pep Guardiola against Atlético Madrid. That was his only appearance of the campaign but the next season he began to establish himself before finally cementing his place in the squad in 2012/13.
He played 16 games under Tito Vilanova that year and the following season that number rose to 30, scoring two goals in the process. In the last two seasons he brought his total number of appearances to 103.
Marc Bartra will be present at the European Championship as Spain will try to defend their title again.
