Atletico started the game exactly as it was expected of them, aggressively pressing the ball high in Bayern's half. I get the feeling there might be a few yellow cards in this one. This is definitely more entertaining than the Man City v Real Madrid game last night. It took only 12 minutes and Atletico opened the scoreline by Saul Niguez, he dribbled four Bayern players, cutting in from the right and shooting around Manuel Neuer and into the back post. The rest of the first half was about Bayern trying to build and create occasions but the passing was not working, while Atletico hit long balls forward attempting counter attacks.
The visitors started the second half much more determined and Alaba's strike only denied by Oblak's crossbar eight minutes in, then Oblak saved Javi Martinez's header. Even though Bayern had the ball end pressed Atletico defended very well. Atletico tried fast counter attacks and they were close to score the second goal by Torres when he struck the post from close range. Bayern had one more chance but Oblak denied Vidal late on as the home side held on for a narrow victory.

It will be an interesting second leg in Munich, Bayer almost won the Bundesliga, so they can concentrate on Champions League, while Atletico is fighting for the La Liga title which is a tough race, the first three teams are only separated by one point.
